In addition, there is a very nice mineral exhibition at the “Alter Pocher”. A quiet, idyllic terrace with ruins from gold mining times entices you to linger here. On your way back be sure to stop by the gold panning area. The Heiligenblut gold miners will gladly show you the art of panning for gold and you will experience firsthand the feeling of the gold rush days. duration: 4-5 hours |  | Jungfernsprung, Heiligenblut | Spectacular experience hiking trail from a large platform (parking at Mölltal-Bundesstrasse) up to the foot of the Jungfernsprung. High above the valley, right on the ridge in about 2,500 m above sea level, a great circular track was created without appreciable hight difference. You get comfortable with the cable car to its starting point. A fantastic summit view spreads in the eyes of the wanderer. The view stretches from the majestic Großglockner to more than 100 threethousand meter peaks in the National Park to famous distant mountains like Watzmann, Dachstein, Triglav and the Drei Zinnen. duration: 6 hours |  | Naturlehrweg Gradental - In the valley of 3.000ers (Educational Nature Trail), Großkirchheim | A second educational nature trail leads through the uncommonly wild and pristine Gradental valley to the Adolf Noßberger cabin, situated along the shore of the Großer Gradensee lake. This diverse hiking experience opens up to the magnificent high mountain wilderness out of which the Gradenmoos - a shallow moor into which several waterfalls plunge – and an elevated lake plateau protrude. (Start: parking place Gradental) duration: 6 hours |  | “Wirtsbauern” Mountain Pasture, Heiligenblut | This hiking excursion leads you from the hotel to the 1,745 m high Wirtsbauern alp. The hike takes roughly three hours. After a cosy detour for some Schnaps and Brettljause (Sausages, bacon, cheese, and pickles served on a wooden board, accompanied by crusty bread and hearty wine) we return to our point of origin. duration: 6 hours |

The valiant arranged and 14,4 Kilometer long Malta Hochalmstraße leads through rock tunnels and a few curves to the Kölbrein concrete dam on 1.902 m. This dam stretches elegantly between the flanks of the mountains. Austria's highest, doubly curved dam has huge dimensions: Height: 200m, length: 626m, max. Width: 41m.

Then it goes with the mountain railway (incidentally, the highest private railway in Europe) with comfortable 30 km/h you pass bizarre rock formations and by a 2,2 kilometers long tunnel in 15 minutes directly to the terminal Berghotel Reißeck on 2.250 m. There are numerous hiking opportunities. From scenic walks, dreamy mountain paths, leisurely family walks to challenging hikes, steep climbing walls and high mountain lakes. | |
